How is average calculated?

Sum of grades divided by count. For weighted: sum of (grade × weight) divided by sum of weights.

Should I weight by credit hours?

Yes, if courses have different credits. A 4-credit A matters more than a 1-credit A.

How do I include letter grades?

Convert to points (A=4, B=3, etc.) or percentages, then average.

What about dropped grades?

Exclude dropped grades from the calculation. Many professors drop the lowest grade(s).
